Canon CR-DGI Retinal Camera
We now have to ability to take very detailed photographs of the retina. This digital image can be magnified and enhanced to allow us to see features in the back of the eye and make a better analysis that standard magnification cannot. This process is comfortable (nothing touches the eye), the image is taken in seconds, and can eliminate the need for dilation in many patients. Other benefits include:
- a permanent and accurate record can be kept of the condition of your eyes
- improved detection of early changes by comparing year on year
- allows a more refined and accurate referral to a specialist if required
- especially useful in following our diabetic and glaucoma patients
If you would like a retinal photograph please let a staff member know.
Equipment
Zeiss Humphrey FDT
Zeiss Humphrey FDT
The Humphrey FDT Perimeter uses Frequency Doubling Technology to provide a clinically verified and fast means of detecting early visual field loss. The FDT is the ideal visual field screening device because it conducts supra-threshold testing in only 35 seconds per eye. Visual field testing is a basic element in the standard of care for glaucoma management.
Reichert AT555 Non-Contact Tonometer
There's no chinrest, no joystick and no elevation controls. You simply lean against the AT-555's forehead rest, and view a fixation target. With its patented hands-free automated alignment system, operators only press a button to activate the IOP measurement process. The Reichert AT555 has the softest air puff available today, and with its enhanced silent operation, it is a truly patient-friendly instrument. The AT555 makes the entire IOP measurement process an extremely comfortable and non-intimidating experience.
Topcon KR-7000
The Topcon KR-7000 is a combined automatic refractor and keratometer. With the push of a single button this unit measures the curvature of your cornea and the axial length of your eye. It provides a detailed color topographical map of your cornea as well as an approximate prescription which the doctor will then refine. This machine is crucial for the correct fitting of contact lenses and monitoring corneal conditions such as keratoconus.

Zeiss Cirrus HD -OCT
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is the latest technology available for the treatment and management of retinal disease. OCT is a non-invasive technology used for imaging the retina, the multi-layered sensory tissue lining the back of the eye. OCT, the first instrument to allow doctors to see cross-sectional images of the retina, is revolutionizing the early detection and treatment of eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular holes, pre-retinal membranes, macular swelling and even optic nerve damage.
